Volunteers Needed for Crow Creek Wildlife Management Area Cleanup on Feb. 20

In 2020, Partners of Scott County Watersheds adopted the Crow Creek Wildlife Management Area near Mt. Joy, IA, with the goal of making the area more accessible and appealing to visitors and improve the natural habitat.

We are coordinating a volunteer work day on Saturday, Feb. 20 from 9am-12pm. Volunteers will assist in removing cedar trees from the area and tying cinder blocks to them to place on the frozen lake.  When the ice melts, the cedars will sink to the bottom of the lake and provide beneficial habitat for fish and other wildlife.  This is an event focused for those junior high-aged and older, and adult supervision is required for those under 16.  Volunteers are encouraged to wear warm clothing (boots, gloves, hats).  Tools will be provided.
